Birthday Haul!

I know it’s late but I did it and now I am going to share to you the haul I got from my birthday last week!

Fashion

DSC04970

Now this shirt is a dream come true for me. As a demigod, I finally have my very own Camp Half-Blood shirt! I just found it in Pop Culture, which is in the mall (check the bag for the locations of the store) I was at. The moment I saw it displayed right n the open, my heart immediately told me to get it. So I did! And I am waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it.

DSC04968DSC04969

These are the shirts I got from Cotton On. I actually love the fabric of each of them, as well as the simple designs.

DSC04973

DSC04978

Also mom said I could get a dress so….ta-da!!! At 20, I got my first floral dress. I actually love the feel of the dress and the pattern is really beautiful. I can imagine wearing this on a dinner or lunch with family, or even on a Sunday. So yeah, I can’t wait to try this out, as well. I actually found the right match to my pink ballet flats that I got from Gap.

DSC04979 1510613_10152790164987591_5430232396625520522_n

Moving on, I got this adorable little hat from Forever 21. I’ve also wanted to get my hands on something like this for a while now and I feel blessed to have one. I don’t know how to describe the material. It’s meant to look like a fedora and straw hat at the same time. Whatever, I still find it cute (but if you know the specific name for this hat, let me know).

Beauty

DSC04998 DSC05001

Also from Forever 21, are these cute little cosmetic brushes. I got so attracted by the polka-dot design on these brushes, and each dot was telling me to buy them. Finally, my Bloom cosmetic brushes can take a break and these babies are ready to settle inside my make-up kit.

DSC04992 DSC04994

DSC04996

And…for the first time in forever… I got a MAC Lipstick! And this is the Amplified Chatterbox. It’s obviously a pink shade, but I think it’s just right for me. I love the substance and how the color manages to stay on my lips for long periods of time. Since MAC is the lipstick, I will treasure it always.

Books

DSC04990

Of course, this haul will not be complete without books! First I got Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. The story is simply about a fangirl named Cath and her ultimate struggle is pretty much the same; to let go of her fandoms and feels. The plot is actually very interesting and I cannot wait to find out the ending to this story. Next to it is Rick Riordan’s “Blood of Olympus”, which is the final installment to the Heroes of Olympus series. For this particular book, I’m trying my best to read it as slow as possible because… I don’t want it to end. I am not really ready to move on to his Norse Mythology series (which is pretty cool and exciting, by the way). I’m not ready to say goodbye to Percy and his friends. I’m sure Cath will understand how I feel.

And that is it for my haul! I guess you could say that I am more than happy with what I got. Till the next post~

20 Books

Believe it or not I just turned 20 years old a few days ago.

To be fair, I don’t feel the age either. Up till now I still think that I am seventeen or eighteen. But that’s not what I want to talk about.

All my life, I’ve been reading and reading. I’m a bookworm, you see and I’d be more than happy to lock myself in my room for the rest of my life, just as long as there are books. Now that I think of it, I’ve been reading for almost fourteen years. Unimaginable! And right now, I would like to share the 20 books (since that’s my age, whether I like it or not) that changed my life.

Note: They’re not in any particular order

1.) Matilda by Roald Dahl
This is the very first book I decided to read on my own. It was not some typical reading assignment or anything. I read it out of my own leisure and reading about a girl who loves reading was the best way to start my bookworm journey.

2.) Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke
This is the first Trilogy I have ever read and I enjoyed all the details the writer wrote and I couldn’t find myself putting it down.

3.) The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
A fellow Christian encouraged me to read this and I loved it. I love the representation of God in this story. Aslan was not some kind of deity that you should not only fear, but someone you can also love.

4.) Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
My English teacher  recommended this book to me and wow did I shed some manly tears! The friendship between Charlotte and Wilbur was beautiful I cannot.

5.) Ramona Quimby, Age 8 by Beverly Cleary
For some odd reason, I really like this book. Up till now, I would reread it whenever I’m bored. Reading about Ramona’s simple yet cheerful life was very fascinating.

6.) The Umbrella Man and Other Stories by Roald Dahl
It’s a collection of a bunch of weird and random stories. The fact that every short story was heartwarming and strange made me love this very book.

7.) The BFG by Roald Dahl
It’s my ultimate childhood favorite! I guess you can now tell that Roald Dahl was my childhood hero.

8.) 19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult
I read this book in high school, and it is filled with teenage problems and psychological sh*t. It centers around a crime that occurred in a school and the plot twist was unbelievable. Like, I did not see that coming and the point of view of each character were amusing to read.

9.) 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher
This was another book that welcomed me to high school, and I had no idea why I read this. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed it. It just brought me so much tears to my eyes.

10.) Looking for Alaska by John Green
I was curious about why people loved John Green so I gave one of his books a try and this was it. I gotta say, I love Alaska Young and I think she is the best character that John Green has ever made.

11.) The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This book was a present during my 18th birthday. I ended up reading more than twice because the story was so beautiful and sad at the same time. It took me a very long time to process the ending.

12.) The Long Road Home by Danielle Steel
My mom recommended this book so I gave it a shot. The story is about a girl named Gabriella and her life, which is filled with so many hardships. The feeling I experienced whilst reading this was so bittersweet, a part of me was rooting for her to win.

13.) A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
I actually read this during grade school, and this was recommended by a good friend of mine. Just like The Fault in Our Stars, I could not process the ending so I had to reread it. I think this was when my “fangirl feels” started to develop.

14.) Percy Jackson and the Olympians + Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan
I watched the movie before reading the series. However, I did not read it right away. A year already passed when my classmate in junior year high school encouraged me to read the books and made me borrow her copies. Man, was I hooked! My fangirl feels took a sharp turn here.

15.) The Mortal Instruments + The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
And this is where my fangirl feels reached puberty. Cassandra Clare never fails to amaze me with her imagination and talents. These series were so awesome, I think my words are not enough to describe how amazing these books are, and how painfully beautiful.

16.) The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
This happens to be the very first Neil Gaiman book I’ve ever read and I actually enjoyed it! It felt like reading a dark fairy tale. It made me want to write a sequel (fanfiction time!) for this book, so badly.

17.) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
I borrowed this book from a dear college friend and I was overwhelmed by the deep and abstract meanings found in this book. I felt like a changed person after reading it.

18.) The Lake by Banana Yoshimoto
This is a philosophical love story (for me). Despite its simplicity, the storyline was still very heartwarming.

19.) Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
A friend’s recommendation, simply because he said the main character reminds him of me. And he was right.

20.) Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
Duh.

Let’s Review! Bloom’s 7-Piece Brush Set

DSC04938 DSC04939

DSC04945I know it has been quite a while since I posted anything. Not only was I too busy, I was having a dilemma on what to blog about. Finally, I decided to do a beauty review of a product that I have been using for a few months now and it is this adorable little brush set from Bloom Cosmetics.

Now this item looks very ideal for Cosmetic Enthusiasts who travel an awful lot, since seven petite brushes are fitted into this simple small glass case. I have a confession, this is the very first time I purchased a couple of make-up brushes, so it is also my first time to try them out.

DSC04962

So the brush set basically contains the essentials. First off from the left we have brow groomer and a comb for your eyelashes. I haven’t used it much since I don’t really do any make-up on my brows and lashes. Next we have the lip brush, which I used for lipsticks that are severely matte. I enjoyed using this particular brush, because it gives you the power to control how much lipstick you want on your lips. You don’t really need a napkin or tissue to smack on, in order to remove the excess. Next we have the eye blending brush, which is supposed to be the complement of the eye shadow brush. However, I use this brush for my eye shadow. I don’t really blend different colors for my eyes, you see and I am not incredibly fond of eye shadow that much. The one in the middle is the powder brush, which I have been frequently using. It is currently in my make-up kit as we speak, since it doesn’t collect too much powder compared to that of a sponge or a puff. In other words, it is pretty lose and it makes the make-up on my face feel less heavier. Next we have the eye shadow brush, which I actually use as a concealer brush, since I am not an eye shadow user. The case even includes a sponge tip applicator, which I also use for my eyes, in case I don’t feel like using the brush. And last but not least, we have the eyeliner brush. Unfortunately, I don’t have eye gel liner — or any eyeliner for that matter, to use for this brush.

T A M A M O M E T E R

I have a few upsides for this product. First of all, it is very handy in many situations. I can bring it anywhere with me since it fits perfectly in my bag and it does not take up so much space. The brushes are very soft, which I appreciate a lot. Also, the design is very simple, but very elegant. I love how the handles of each brush are very smooth, so the feeling of applying make-up feels great on the fingertips. My only downside is the durability, I guess. The sponge tip applicator was sort of brittle to the point that the sponge started to break out after a few uses. Perhaps it is because I was using it the wrong way (I hope), but nonetheless, I can’t help but feel that I need to be extra careful in using the brushes and the case. So I am giving this product a score of soft-boiled!

Add subtitle text (1)

If you want to know more about the product click here, but if you want to learn more about Bloom Cosmetics in general, then you can also visit their website. If you are interested in getting this in a shop, then you can find this product in Beauty Bar (this is where I bought it, actually). Till the next post~

25 Facts about Me

To start off this brand new blog of mine, I think it would be best to share a couple of random facts about me. I know it is one of the most cliched type of posts, but I think it will give this entire blog a good head start. So let’s get started!

1.) Believe it or not, I am 19 going on 20

Most people find it really hard to believe that I am nearing my twenties. Don’t worry, I can’t believe it either.

2.) I am an Otaku…at heart

I love anime. I’ve been watching, reading, searching, and drawing it for a third of my life. Right now, I am exploring other interests so I would be more open to other things, I guess.

3.) I used to be super girly when I was little

I was a total princess when I was a child. I adored the color pink, I wanted ruffles on my dresses, I played with so many Barbie dolls, and I believed that I was super duper beautiful. But as I grew up, that part of me drifted away…but not entirely. I still like dressing up (when I have the time and money), I adore beauty products, I see myself as an empowered person not a princess, I am into random and cute merchandise, and my current favorite color is blue.

4.) I am animal lover

Whenever people keep asking me if I am a dog or a cat person, I always say both. Growing up, I have been very fascinated with animals. Every creature is precious to me and I guess you could say that they’re my advocacy.

5.) I want to dye my hair partially blue

This idea has been mostly influenced by the book entitled “Daughter of Smoke and Bone” by Laini Taylor. The main character has blue hair, you see. And blue is not the only hair color I want. I would like a little pitch black on my locks, as well.

6.) I want to be a demigod

Regardless of what Percy Jackson says, I think being a demigod is awesome. I would make it a career, even if it means putting my life on the line.

7.) My first cartoon was either Batman or Spiderman

That’s where my interest for superheroes begin, I guess

8.) I am a Directioner

So don’t judge.

9.) I am team DC

Marvel is awesome and all, but I really prefer DC, for some reason.

10.) I am a terrible model

Don’t you dare ask me to pose, because I will end up disappointing you. Hahaha

11.) Sometimes I pretend that I am an awesome singer

I think having a powerful voice is one of the greatest things in the world. Unfortunately, I was not really born with that. So I pretend that I am good at singing.

12.) I do before I think

Unfortunately

13.) I hate bugs

I like animals, but I can’t seem to find any sympathy for anything that crawls or slimy. In other words, I had really bad experiences with them

14.) I am not a fan of jewelry

The sensation of having a chain of some kind of metal on your skin makes me feel uncomfortable. So to the guys who wish to court me (assuming there are any), you don’t have to sacrifice your wallet for jewelry pieces, because chances are I will not wear it at all.

DSC04846

15.) I am new fan of cosmetics

I recently discovered the wonders of make-up last summer, after watching lots of Beauty Guru channels on YouTube. I am quite new at the craft, and hopefully I will be able to obtain more make-up products to blog about and for you to enjoy.

16.) I want to publish my own book someday

Any book, just as long as it is written by me, I will die a hero.

17.) Cute things make me happy

Enough said

18.) I have a weird fetish for notebooks, pens, and stationery stuff

If most girls would spend hours shopping for the right clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories, then I would spend hours finding the right pens, notebooks, and stationery. I am still a firm believer of writing down things instead of typing them and I intend to keep the art of writing by hand alive. I am still working on making my handwriting perfect, though.

19.) I initially wanted to become an actress

And sometimes I still dream that, because movies never fail to fascinate me.

20.) I am actually attracted to abs

It means that a person is very fit and healthy, and that is not wrong.

21.) I also want to do some voice acting one day

That is, if I have time

22.) I can’t seem to stop watching YouTubers

Because they’re too perfect for words.

23.) I always dream of having blue eyes

Specifically sky blue kind of eyes. I find them very appealing.

24.) I hate Math

I really hate it.

25.) I’d like to own a shop filled with Fandom merchandise someday

I think its best to surround yourself with your interests, otherwise you would question your life choices.

September Favorites 2014

Since September ended a week ago. It’s time for my monthly favorites!

Camping

I’ve been to tons of overnight trips, but as I mentioned in my camp blog post, every challenge was so new at the same time frightening. But in the end, I’m glad that I got to experience it. Plus, I made new friends from other colleges and they are amazing. A part of me wishes that I can do it again.

Music

Fireproof by One Direction

Yes, I love One Direction. If you have your baes, I’ve got five and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world (even though I haven’t met them and can’t attend their concert here in the Philippines, due to monetary reasons. Huhu). Ever since they announced their free download for their new single, I got it as soon as I could. Up till now, I can’t stop pressing repeat every time I play the song. It’s so good and as a directioner, I can’t find anything bad about it. It’s just really good. I still have not listened to “Steal My Girl”, which might be the next thing I am going to listen to this October.

Food

20140924_165603

Toppo

It reminds me of Pocky, only the chocolate is inside the stick. It tastes like any kind of chocolate stick snack, but this was the first time I tried the product and I like it. Well for one thing, I adore chocolate. And since the BER-months are here, chocolate snacks are a must.

Fashion

Hat from Esprit

I haven’t worn hats in a very long time and I am very confident to say that hats are my ultimate trademark. And I just found this in my closet several weeks ago and I remember buying this at a Esprit Store in Singapore with my mom. I haven’t worn it a very long time, and I had a difficult time looking for it as well. I thought I would never see it again, until it was deep down inside my closet. So right now, I am making sure that it never leaves my sight and I am very happy to be wearing it again.

Beauty

EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm

If you want to see my review of this, you can click here. But if you are too lazy to read, all I can say is this; they taste so good and they are also very moisturizing. Plus they looks so cute and I think they match me quite well.

Items

20141004_181450

Food Erasers

There came I time I thought I lost my eraser (which I didn’t), so I had to use my “last resort” erasers, which were these cute babies. Again, I bought these in Singapore and up till now I have not used them as much because I want them to last forever. I mean come on…look at them. They are not just very cute, they kinda look edible as well. Plus they are contained in this bento-like box which I absolutely adore.

20141004_180707

20141004_180819

Fun Stickers

Just like the erasers, I could not bear using them right away because I don’t want them to run out that easily. Also, I could not decide where to use them for. So far, I only got some on my calculator. What I like about these stickers is that they really stick and they are not too sticky (what). And they have a variety of very cute designs in Toys R Us, which makes it really hard to choose!!!

Movie

Watch it on Youtube

Justice League: War

After for so long, I finally got to watch this movie. In case you guys have no idea what it’s all about, it’s simply an origin story on how the Justice League came together. Before they came together, there was another typical alien invasion and almost everyone did not approve the idea of having superheroes. The invasion and the hate was so big, I guess they had no choice but to work together. Also, it is based on the New 52 universe, which made more compelled to watch it. So far, I have mixed feelings about the changes. There were parts I really loved, parts I liked, and parts that I did not really enjoy. The movie was very action-packed and as a fan, seeing them working together for the first time makes me feel all tingly inside. Plus, it can be really funny. Thank you, Green Lantern!

TV Series

Arrow Season 2

Yes, I know. I’m so late. On the bright side, I did not have to go through series breaks and random cliffhangers. The only reason why I decided to watch it last month, was because I heard season 3 is coming out this month (now it’s premiere is only a few days away and I am so excited!!!). I’ve got to say, if I really loved season 1…season 2 became so much better. The character development was impressive, the action scenes were so epic and awesome, so much feels here and there (*ehem*Olicity*ehem*), the Flash had an appearance, I adore the Canary’s sassy and sexy personality, and the plot twists and surprises all made my heart jump. The entire season was pretty much epic, and I cannot wait for season 3.

Game

Screenshot_2014-10-04-18-02-58

Bubble Witch Saga 2

I only got to play one game this month and it’s this one. The mechanics of the game are similar to Candy Crush Saga (probably because they belong to the same company), only it involves shooting and popping bubbles. If you have to simply match the candy in Candy Crush, Bubble Witch requires you to aim and match the color bubble. Even though it seems pretty simple, playing it can become very addictive. It’s a good thing I managed to stop playing for a while. Either way, it is a very good game and I like it.

And that is all my favorites for the month of September! Let’s hope October will be a good one and see you on the next blog post~

Campmates! Thank you Erven for posting the photo 🙂

Last weekend was pretty life-changing. I went on a camping trip at Alta Rios Resort and Camping Site with my NSTP CWTS class last weekend, where we are taught survival skills and team-building. Now, I’ve done tons of overnight trips before, but never have I experienced an actual camping trip, wherein you are taught how to handle yourself in a place that is beyond civilization (well the place was not really far from civilization. It wasn’t a city, that’s for sure). Although it was only overnight, I had to admit that I started to miss a few things. My smartphone and my dog,for instance (I couldn’t risk bringing a camera, so my apologies for such low quality photos). But I had tons of fun. I made new friends and experienced brand new things. We learned the Aggadu Tribal Line Dance; for me it was like a Filipino version of Gwiyomi and it was tons of fun. Then we had lectures on tent pitching, first aid, and fire building. As for our meals, we had to cook them ourselves. I felt bad for not helping much in the outdoor cooking, so I compensated by cleaning hahaha! We got to know each other more through a few socializing sessions and team-building. But I think we were at the peak of our ecstasy when we did our group presentations which could be in a form of a skit, dance, or song. Let’s say things were revealed and talents were discovered during that time. Learning basic swimming strokes was definitely a challenge but at least I got to try it out. Also what’s really amazing are my campmates. During my first day of NSTP class, I never thought I would grow closer to most of them, much less any of them. But after camping, I find myself getting along with everyone pretty well. Basically, they made my camping experience worthwhile, so I’d like to thank you guys and your “clingy-ness”. You guys are awesome and I love you all for that. Here’s to more NSTP activities 🙂
